Greetings Band, Dancerette and Orchestra parents,

The School board has approved our request for a Spring Trip to Jamestown Virginia and Washington DC.

Our travel dates are Wednesday March 7th through Sunday March 11th, 2012.  Three days of school will be missed for which students will be granted school business.  Our group will travel by charter bus and be chaperoned by me with a one chaperon to every ten student ratio.

The purpose of the trip is for us to perform with a college band and receive a critique by a collegiate exemplar of ensemble conducting. Students will also be given an opportunity to visit historic Williamsburg, Jamestown Virginia and Washington DC.  Complete details of the trip including emergency contacts, itinerary and other pertinent information will be made available at the mandatory meeting Monday March 5th, 2012   6:00 pm in the HHS Cafeteria.

The estimated cost of the trip is $500.00.   Price includes bus, hotel, activity fees and some meals.

I offer trips as a means of rewarding students for their hard work.  I would like to believe that these yearly trips also serve as an incentive to continue in band and orchestra.  However, given the unfortunate economic climate, I appreciate that many families may not be able to support such an endeavor at this time.  Please read the payment plan carefully, sign the agreement and submit payment by the due dates if you are interested in the Spring Trip.   If we do not have a significant number of students and a well balanced selection of instrumentalists for the performance, then all monies will be refunded and the trip will be canceled.   Thank you for your consideration.

Master Musician

9th Graders who achieved Master Musician at the middle school level are automatically in all county their 9th grade year. You must still auditions live to be eligible.

Summer Band Tuesdays in July Ms Mieder made herself available to students to guide those wishing to embark on the Master Musician Portfolio project.

This is all the time I had to commit to this endeavor. Not much time can be devoted to MM during the remainder of the school year due to our very hectic and demanding program.

The Requirements are attached – Please read them carefully – students wishing to submit portfolios and complete MM projects are personally responsible from this point forward for making sure that all directions are followed and deadlines met. Ms Mieder will not have time to further guide you at this point or remind you of deadlines.

Band All State

The District and State deadlines for all state are very strict. I had to set a deadline for students to audition for me to judge their preparedness and then submit paperwork and register them on line by a certain date. If you did not get a chance to tryout for all state and wanted to, make sure that next year you communicate with me and be on top of those deadlines.
